Thanks Chaitanya, i was a little apprehensive of trying to check the stuff
myself lest i break something else. I will goto the mechanic today and get
to know the issue then. Just was alarmed to see this behaviour, have seen
this when an actual overflow occurs but not like this hence sent the mail if
anyone else have seen this or could explain.
I just noticed the leak today , don't know from when its leaking because it
wasn't evident until today morning.

the region was still ruled by local rulers under his surveillance. By this
the local ppl were happy and Trade and culture spread.

Re: [BN] Petrol leaking issue - Pulsar 150 classic
try tightening the casing or check the float assembly of the carburetor.
there could be a case of faulty float.
#1- if the float has developed a crack and does not fully close the overflow
valve, the petrol will continuously keep overflowing.
#2- if the closing pin has some dirt stuck to it, chances are the petrol
will find it's way around the pin and keep flowing out.
#3- if the casing has a leak, it might let in the air and destabilize the
pressure, (although this is'nt a valid reason for the petrol to overflow).
#4- Also check if the float lever is bent or not functioning properly. if
the float hits the ceiling before closing the valve completely, the pin wont
fit to close the valve and petrol will leak out.
#5- check the valve body for cracks, or if the threading is faulty. the pin
might be closing properly, but if the body is faulty (read cracked) it will
seep thru it. similarly if the threading is gone-case, petrol will find its
way thru it.
Petrol being a very volatile liquid (and also being used as a cleaner for
most vehicle parts) does tend to find its way thru very minor cracks and
nooks.
best option is to change the float asly completely as one faulty part is
usually the cause of deterioration for the others. first though try cleaning
the carburetor, first with clean petrol and then pressure air flow thru most
common passages.

[BN] Petrol leaking issue - Pulsar 150 classic
Hi
I am facing a weird issue of petrol leaking from the overflow pipe of the
carb even when the bike is in motion. Just noticed today that the petrol was
leaking from the overflow pipe of the carb even when the engine is running!
I hadn't noticed this before but on careful observation found out that the
leak is from the overflow pipe coming out of the carb. Any ideas what this
might be. I am suspecting that the screw settings in the carb have been set
to loose or something or someone has fiddled with the screw setting causing
the leak?
This could turn into a dangerous situation if the petrol catches fire when
its leaking from the overflow pipe.

[BN] Re: [OT] Looking for Camera..
Hey Atit
Glad i helped.
It is true that DSLRs are tough to carry around on the bike especially since unlike compacts different lenses are required for different kinds of photography. In case you dont want to carry 2 - 3 lenses around, i have found that the nikon bag fits pretty confortably in the cramster tank bag. But yes it is slower to shoot with the DSLR than a Compact or Big zoom cameras. Plus for touring, a big zoom is always good. It is possible nevertheless, to haul it out of the bag and shoot through the viewfinder of the D5000 with the helmet on. Its clumsy, but it works :D ..
On the other hand, since the quality of picture is so good in the DSLR, i have found that its entirely possible to crop into the image until the desired object is reached ( sort of like digital zoom in the old days :D ) .. Especially since a lot of my pictures are just for the memories, and not many of them i tend to print or frame.
I did also look at the second hand good body and spend more on lenses, but at heart i'd like to pick up a "new camera" if am paying a bomb for it!.. plus i hope to live with the kit lens 18-55 VR, until i learn to distinguish finer points of photography, enough to actually invest in another lens!:D..
My budget didnt allow me to go in for a 18-105, or 18-200 lens, but i have been informed that that would have been a better choice. So if your budget is flexible, you could get only the body and get a 18-105 or 18-200 lens. Am assuming it will add about 8 to 15k more! ..
Like rocky said, if you're looking specifically for touring, go in for the TZ series which is a point and shoot with mega zoom (10x or 12x) .. or a Quasi SLR viz Panasonic - FZ38.
In Mumbai .. JJ Mehtha is recommended place to buy. But watch out for fine print and the difference b/w Manufacturer warranty and Dealer Warranty.
Enjoy!!
